SO2 Calculator |
SO2 Calculator is a free, stand alone S02
calculator with a small screen footprint.
It is offered free of charge for everyone,
without warranty of any kind as stated in our EULA.
It is currently beta software, that is, it
is still being tested and developed, and should not be used in a
critical production environment without extensive testing.
Questions, comments, complaints, and
suggestions are very welcome, but this project is not high priority, so
they may not be answered, but they will be archived and reviewed and
may eventually be incorporated into the program, and the FAQs, Help, etc.

Program Use |
Program use is pretty straightforward.
- Enter the wine's current pH
- Enter the wine's current level of Free SO2
- Enter the desired level of Free SO2
- Enter the volume of wine in one of the volume boxes,
the others will be updated when you exit the box
|
Data Entry |
If you need help remembering what to
enter, move the mouse cursor over the box you need help with, and the
status bar will offer suggestions.
Typical SO2 values are suggested as guidelines for
wines with the provided pH level.
Enter data, using the keyboard or with the onscreen
keypad.
To use the onscreen keypad, first click on the box you
want to change, then click on the keypad to enter the value. When you
are done, click the "Go" button to go to the next box.
When you enter the next box, its content will be
highlighted, simply key in the value and it will replace the box
content.
To quickly clear the content of a box when it is not
highlighted, press the "Clear" button.

Interpreting the Results |
The results are also pretty
straightforward for both powder and 10% solution.
Campden tablets are given in 2 boxes, the Metric and US
designations do not apply. The upper box is accurate to 3 decimals, the
lower is rounded to quarter tablets. The other 2 boxes give the
resulting amounts of free SO2 to show the difference before and after
rounding.
